ITANAGAR, Nov 16: Former Member of Parliament Kiren Rijiju of Arunachal Pradesh has been elected as vice president of Indian Archery Association (IAA). 81 out of total 94 votes were cast in favour of Rijiju. Rijiju is the first from entire North East to be elected to the coveted post.
Vijay Kumar Malhotra of Delhi was elected as president, according to Arunachal Archery Association release.
Meanwhile, Indian Weightlifting Federations Joint Secretary Abraham K Techi said that Rijiju’s election to the post would prove a boon for sports sector in Arunachal Pradesh. ITANAGAR, Nov 16: All Papum Pare District Youth Association (APPDYA) today condemned the physical attack on circle officer Koloriang Gyamar Amte on 13th November. The Association demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the attack case.

ITANAGAR, Nov 16: Parliamentary Secretary (Environment & Forests) Chow Tewa Mein today visited RK Mission Hospital and inquired about the condition of Tajar Hanning, who received grievous injury, when tigress ‘Nang’ of Itanagar Zoo attacked him.
While wishing for early recovery of Hanning, the Parliamentary Secretary highly appreciated the courage and dedication shown by him in tracking and rescuing the tigress, which escaped the zoo two day earlier.

ITANAGAR, Nov 16: Over 100 Mithuns were vaccinated for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and HS and Black Quarter by a team of vets led by Veterinary Officer Bamang Raja at Dui village in Palin yesterday.
The veterinary officer Raja praised the panchayat leaders and villagers for taking initiative for vaccination of their animals. He sought the cooperation of the villagers in yearly departmental vaccination of animals against the disease like FMD. He suggested the villagers to vaccinate the animals twice in a year before monsoon and after monsoon as regular vaccination is the preventive measure for diseases like FMD in Mithun.

It is reliably learnt that the GoAP has already initiated steps on issues raised by the GSU for early redressal and immediate action. I would like to put forth some facts about the GSU demands.
As per available official records, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has repeatedly assured to create the Lower Siang district in his tenure.
It is a fact that the Longding district was created during the tenure of then Chief
Minister Jarbom Gamlin. Both files for creation of two new districts -
Where were GSU and GWS at that time? Why they didn’t raise any objection or protest like today? Who is masterminding such dharna? Is it being organized on behalf of some vested persons ? It is best known to those who are behind it?
Did they (GSU) ever adopt a resolution in their last conference at Telam? Or did they ever meet or submit any memorandum to the GoAP on these issues? If the GSU has not adopted any resolution or submit representation to the present GoAP, how could they give ultimatum to GoAP and stage a dharna? Would it not amount to misuse the organization and mislead the youths?

I would suggest the students’ organization not to repeat such mistakes in future without winning the confidence of the entire students’ community as well as society before taking up any democratic movement on the ground that dharna or protest is a constitutional rights.

It is a very unfortunate incident that young and energetic 2012 batch APCS cadre
Gyamar Amte, Koloriang CO, who agreed to work for the society even after facing
all odds in far flung district -
This is a direct example of a clean slap on the face of democracy and humanity. This can be termed as the most barbaric act in a modern world. This is not a sign of civilized society, and of course, not the legacy our forefathers in a democratic country have hoped for. Therefore, it is in the interest of every one of us, irrespective of religion, region, caste, tribe and gender, to build and nurture a society with such system which can efficiently deliver welfare services that is predictable, valid and reliable. This will act as a perpetual insurance for secured future not only for us but for our siblings too.

ITANAGAR, Nov 16: The National Press Day was celebrated with sombre mood at Banquet Hall here today. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, Padmashree Mamang Dai, Secretary IPR Indra Mallo Jain and large number of press persons, students and common citizens joined together for the celebration.
Setting the tone for the day, the president of Arunachal Press Club (APC) Taba Ajum made an emotional appeal to the members present to educate their relatives, friends and general people about the role of media.
“You are aware that this year has been a tough one for the Press fraternity of the state. The year witnessed repeated attack on media houses of the state capital besides intimidation and threats to the journalists. Of them, the assassination attempt on The Arunachal Times Associate Editor and President of Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists Tongam Rina has deeply shocked the Press persons not here in Arunachal Pradesh alone but globally,” stated Ajum. He added, “In true sense, the Press fraternity is still striving hard to come out from the trauma caused by the incident. The wound is too deep to be healed easily. The recent attack on Echo of Arunachal office and its associate editor Tapan Das has once again created the hostile atmosphere under which the Press persons have to work.”

“As Chief Minister of the state, I am with you. My earnest appeal to you all is that never think that the Government is not concerned about your welfare and safety. This is your government and you are all stakeholders like every citizen of the state,” he added.
He further asked the media to be the eyes and ears of the government and mirror the grievances of the people without any fear and favour and cautioned them against any unsubstantiated allegations, sensationalization and vulgarity. “As you are the eyes and ears of the Government, I look forward to your constructive criticisms, suggestions and solutions so that my commitment to deliver a common man’s government is fulfilled”, he said.
Recalling her days as a journalist when they used to organize the National Press Day in R.K Mission hall, Padmashree Mamang Dai, an eminent writer herself said its always been an uphill task for the media fraternity as it comes with a lot of responsibilities. Lauding their efforts, she said that despite the increasing attacks they are making a growing impact.
Let us see ourselves as part of a larger team where Press is one of the pillars and the Government is the other pillar, said Indra Mallo Jain, Secy IPR and asked both to maintain a healthy working relationship. The resistant that you face is an indirect assessment that you are making an impact, it shows that your voice counts, she added.
Media urges GoAP to clarify
ITANAGAR, Nov 16: The Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and the Arunachal Press Club (APC) have called upon the state government to clarify the status of July 15 Tongam Rina shooting case.
There are contradictory reports from different quarters in this regard. While some sources claimed that the CBI has declined to accept the case, there was no intimation to this effect to both the Press bodies, including from IGP Sanjay Baniwal, who had assured to inform about the status of the case.

When contacted today, the IGP informed that “We are yet to receive any official communiqué in this regard and on receipt of same it would be made known.”
Capital SP Surender Kumar also conveyed the same message.
The confusing situation is creating lot of misgiving, and therefore the APUWJ and the APC exhorted the state government to issue clarification immediately.

ITANAGAR, Nov 16: The National Press Day celebration today turned emotional when Motin Nath, father of late Bablu Nath received achievers award on behalf of his late son. Bablu Nath died while trying to save life of students of VKV Sunpura near Tezu during flood on September 20 this year.
Motin Nath while receiving award from Chief Minister Nabam Tuki broke down and many other inside banquet hall were reduced to tears seeing the pain of a father.
“I had many big dreams for him but died even before those dream became reality. It’s hard to accept that he is no longer with us but am hopeful that his act will unite people of Arunachal Pradesh. I am grateful to APC and APUWJ for recognizing sacrifice of poor people like us,” said Motin Nath while talking to this journalist on the sideline of the event.

DAPORIJO, Nov 16: In a bizarre incident, a group of youths allegedly beaten up the students and staff of Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya at Dong village near Daporijo yesterday.
The miscreants entered into the hostel premise of the school without prior permission and started to assault the students and staff mercilessly, police said.
An FIR was lodged with Daporijo police station against the culprits involved in the attack. Police swung into full action to nab the culprits.
The school authority informed that, the miscreants entered into the hostel premise at around 6.30 pm and brutally beaten up the students inflicting grievous injuries.
Meanwhile, the parents of the students rushed to the school campus. They urged the police and district authority to apprehend the culprits and award them exemplary punishment as per law.
According to the source, all the culprits came from other side of the Subansiri river and entered into the school campus to commit the offence.
JNV Secondary School at Dong village is one of oldest schools of Upper Subansiri District which was initially located at Lepajaring village near Menga Mandir Daporijo under Taliha circle since last many years.

Govt clarifies on delay in creation of Lower Siang district
ITANAGAR, Nov 16: The creation of Lower Siang district is being delayed due to delay in finalization of the jurisdiction of the proposed new district as well as its headquarters.
“Despite several public hearings, consultations and review meetings, a decision with
regard to jurisdiction of Lower Siang district and its headquarters has not arrived
yet. The State Government is committed to give the green signal for formation of
the new district once there is a permanent solution to the hurdles,” a govt statement

However, the State Government will go ahead with the process as and when the public donate the required land free of cost for the purpose.
Claiming that the Government is conscious of the needs of the people and the state, it appealed to the Galo Students’ Union (GSU) to first get the official status of the issues raised by them before going for agitations and dharnas which cause public inconvenience.

Training program on rational use of blood and blood products
ITANAGAR, Nov 16: A training program on rational use of blood and blood products for the medical officers of entire district hospital of state, including RK Mission Hospital here was held in Naharlagun recently. The training organized by Blood Safety Division, AP State AIDS Control Society, mainly focused on judicious use of blood and blood products in blood transfusion in clinical practices.
The inaugural function was attended by Dr. Dani Duri, Project Director, APSACS; Dr. Riken Rina, Jt. Director (BSD), APSACS and Dr. Nabam Budh, Dy. Director, (Blood Safety), APSACS.

ITANAGAR, Nov 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Papum Pare in collaboration with NN Charitable Society (NNCS), Doimukh organized a field demonstration cum plant health camp at Laptap, Langper and adjoining villages of Sagalee sub division.
The two days program conducted under Tribal Development Fund Project (TDF) of NABARD aimed at imparting knowledge on Khasi mandarin orchard management.
The Subject Matter Specialist on Horticulture demonstrated on planting technique, orchard soil management, training and pruning of mandarin plant to facilitate proper plant growth for obtaining qualitative and quantitative production. The Subject Matter Specialist on Plant Protection demonstrated on safe handling of pesticides during plant protection operations in the orchard. She also stressed on clean cultivation practices, regular monitoring of pests and diseases incidence, timely and judicious application of pesticides and lime to control the outbreak of major pest and diseases.

Agri chemicals, lime and farm tools were distributed to the to the participating farmers of the area. Altogether, 100 beneficiaries of TDF project have benefited by this program.

energy and time positively for the betterment of self, the society, the state and
the country as a whole. He was speaking during the closing ceremony of the week-
“One must be best in whatever they do, be it in sports, cultural activities or studies and must carry forward the values that one learn at home and school for the future,” Mithi said
Mithi shared to the children the life of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. “Nehru was a friend of children who used to call him as “Chacha Nehru”. Whereever he went he made friendship with children. He was a man with a great vision for our country.”
Mithi assured Rs 10 lakh for the construction of a multipurpose hall for the school.

National Jr Boys and Girls Teakwondo C’ship: Preparation almost complete
ITANAGAR, Nov 16: All preparations, including the construction of the huge metal tent for holding the 32nd National Junior Boys and Girls Taekwondo Championship at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun are almost completed.
The experts and workers were giving final touch to the giant temporary indoor hall, the first of its kind in the state.
Over 600 participants from 33 states and a central organisation are expected to take part in the Championship beginning from November 18, Arunachal Taekwondo Association President Kipa Kaha said.
So far, 505 players from 23 states have confirmed participation, he informed and added that 20 players from Arunachal Pradesh will participate in the championship.
While expressing gratitude to Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) for reposing faith on Arunachal Taekwondo Association in particular and the state as whole to shoulder the responsibility for hosting the mega sporting event, Kaha, also the Organizing Committee Chairman, said that the people of Arunachal Pradesh always feel proud to be an Indian. He appealed to the people of Arunachal Pradesh to show their traditional tribal hospitality towards the visiting guests from all over the country. He also urged all to come, enjoy the sport and cheer for the host team during the championship.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki would attend the opening ceremony of the championship that will take place at 2.30 pm on November 18 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun. MP Takam Sanjoy would attend the Closing ceremony on November 21.
The competitions would be started from November 19 at 9 am.
DC inaugurates APST Bus Service from Aalo to Eyi Village
Aalo, Nov 16: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete attended Children’s Day celebration at Eyi Middle School on November 14 last.
The DC appreciated the land donors of the school and appealed them to keep land intact without any encroachment for future expansion of the school and asked the students to inculcate rich values of life to be good citizen.
A public memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner by Maryom Naso, ASM pertaining to extension of three classrooms, maintenance of hostel building and earth cutting works.
Attending the inauguration of APST bus service from Aalo to Eyi village, the DC said that the bus service will solve the communication problem of the people of the area. He cautioned the youths to refrain from indiscipline like roof riding, travelling in the bus without fare etc.
The DRDA Project Director Dege Ete also appealed to the people to utilize the bus service without giving any trouble to the department to ensure its continuity.

The State of World Population 2012 says that governments, civil society, health providers and communities have the responsibility to protect the right to family planning for women across the spectrum, including those who are young or unmarried.
To ensure that every person’s right to family planning is realized, the report also
